Clockwork Angel

Clockwork Angel
by Cassandra Clare
Genre: YA, Fantasy
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry
Publication Date: August 31, 2010

Summary:
Magic is dangerous--but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by--and torn between--two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

Book Review:
LOVED IT! You know I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book. I mean the summary thing didn't really capture my attention. Plus it was set in the same world as The Mortal Instruments. I don't know why but usually I have a problem with two different story lines being in the same "world". Anyways this was not a problem with Clockwork Angel. Again Cassandra Clare has really shown what a talented writer she is. From the first chapter I was sucked right into the book. I loved it and I can't wait for the next book Clockwork Prince. This takes place in a similar type "world" as The Mortal Instruments, but it makes it all it's own. The characters were also great. Tessa was sweet and selfless. All she wanted to do was find her brother. Will was brooding and quite annoying, but I think thats part of his charm. Jem was okay, he wasn't anything extraordinary, but I liked him. Overall I just loved all the characters. Except maybe Tessa's brother Nate. The story was unbelievably good. It's one of those books in which you could get lost in there and never want to come back out. No matter what anyone else says I still think that this is one of the best books I have read. At lest in it's genre. I am definitely  looking forward to the rest of the series. The only down side is that i have to wait months before the next book comes out! Ugh!
